Birthplace: Wiesbaden (Hessen), Germany

College Degree: B.A. in Secondary Education, major in English and German in Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, AZ.

Classes taught: Foreign language (Spanish), ESL (Grammar I), English I, English Enrichment, and Expository Writing

Interests other than teaching: Arts & Crafts, Music (singing and guitar), Cooking (International), Writing, and Photography.

I like teaching at Southwestern because: I believe there should be more international involvement in schools. We bring the world a little closer together and thus are one step closer to keeping good relations and understanding of others. Of course I also like the beautiful campus (Beaver Creek) and the wonderful people that I get to meet and work with.

Favorite quote: "A fool thinks himself to be wise, but a wise man knows himself to be a fool" - William Shakespeare

My teaching philosophy: In short form: Education means to supply our younger generation with the tools to succeed in their future and be active members of any community. I believe that the language and culture of the country we were raised in is a big part of our identity, but can only be fully evolved if we understand other cultures as well. It is important to integrate any diversity that is displayed in the school into the curriculum. It is important that students recognize and respect individual differences, as well as take individual responsibility for themselves.
