Something you might not know: Grew up on the island of St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands. Owned and operated the McDonalds franchise on St. Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands for several years after graduating from Hartwick College.

Interests other than teaching: Working as a camp counselor and water ski instructor at Camp Timanous (located in Raymond, Maine) for 33 years. Travel - the Caribbean, Hawai'i, Hong Kong, South Korea, & Japan. Golf. Working on my tan as I read a book on the beach!

Athletic coach of: Soccer and Baseball

I like teaching at Southwestern because: The location of the Beaver Creek campus, as well as its enrollment provides a wonderful setting for students and teachers alike to take advantage of the unique opportunity for academic, social, personal  and professional growth.

Favorite quote: "Treat people as you would like to be treated."

My teaching philosophy: Those of us who have chosen to work in the camp and/or educational setting have a wonderful opportunity to serve as role models and guide students into and through adolescence. Our success with our students is based on how well we remember and how well we learned from our own trek through this exciting, and often challenging, period of intellectual and human growth. Kids have always behaved as we/they are supposed to. While we work to develop students who can cope with the challenge of a changing world, we are also charged with the responsibility of preparing our students to become positive and contributing member of society. This is where our lessons on integrity, honesty, fairness, compassion and respect loom as large, if not more so, than the lessons of the classroom.
